Group Leader – Stacey Dougan & Shannon Henderson
In this bright and spacious room we introduce children to the early stages of the curriculum. Staff encourage the children to become more independent and enjoy learning with a daily routine based on creativity, role-play, rhythm and rhyme, storytelling and problem solving. The playroom looks onto our luscious garden complete with magical mini forest, mud kitchen, bug hotel, construction area, climbing frame & tree house.
This double aspect room is spilt into two halves with a carpeted area complete with home corner, fancy dress box and construction area and other half with water tray, sand pit and low tables and chairs perfect for table top activities. Each half has its own book corner and imaginary play area. The room has space for two groups of up to 12 children aged approximately 2 ½ – 4 years old with 4 staff. With so many different areas to explore children are free to make choices and learn through play. This group of children have a short rest period after lunch, some have a nap, and others just rest and listen to quiet music or look at books. Each day we offer arts/crafts, sensory play, sand/water play and lots more.
